Benefits of Wearing Silk

Discover why Mulberry silk is at the heart of every Lé Silk piece

THERMOREGULATING

Silk is naturally temperature-regulating, helping to maintain an optimal body temperature throughout the night. As a breathable fabric, it can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, keeping the skin cool and comfortable. Its lightweight, thin structure allows air to circulate freely, creating a natural insulating effect, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. The proteins within Mulberry silk also help absorb perspiration, making it more hygienic and skin-friendly than many other fabrics.

As a result, Lé Silk sleepwear and accessories are designed to provide a higher-quality, more comfortable sleeping experience.

Hypoallergenic

Silk is a naturally hypoallergenic fabric, composed primarily of two proteins produced by silkworms: sericin and fibroin. Sericin has natural anti-microbial properties that help repel dust mites, bacteria, mold, and other common allergens. Additionally, silk is free from irritating chemicals and synthetic additives, making it an ideal choice for sensitive or allergy-prone skin.

SUSTAINABLE, ECO-FRIENDLY AND NATURAL FIBRE

Mulberry silk is the most luxurious and pure natural fibre, produced from the cocoons of Bombyx mori silkworms. The cocoons are carefully softened in water, and the fine filaments are delicately unwound and woven together to form smooth, continuous silk threads.

Renowned for its strength, resilience, and timeless beauty, silk resists deformation while maintaining its natural sheen. As a 100% biodegradable and compostable material, Mulberry silk also requires significantly less water, chemicals, and energy to produce compared to most other fibres, making it both luxurious and environmentally responsible.

At Lé Silk, all of our products are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, environmentally friendly and no chemicals are used, giving you the satisfaction that your Mulberry silk goods do not damage our planet in any way.

Anti-Aging

Silk contains natural proteins and 18 essential amino acids that help support the skin’s metabolism, encouraging faster cell regeneration and a healthier, more radiant appearance. Its smooth, frictionless texture helps prevent the formation of “sleep wrinkles” and fine lines that can develop from contact with pillowcases, sleep masks, or sleepwear.

Unlike cotton, silk fibres are far less absorbent, meaning they draw less moisture from the skin overnight, helping to maintain optimal hydration and leaving the skin soft and supple by morning.

Enhanced Sleep Quality

Silk’s naturally soft and smooth texture creates an unmatched sense of comfort, helping the body relax and unwind for a deeper night’s rest. Thanks to its temperature-regulating properties, silk maintains an optimal sleeping temperature, keeping you comfortably cool and never overheated.

Sleeping in silk pyjamas or on silk pillowcases enhances overall sleep quality, offering a truly luxurious experience that you’ll look forward to night after night.
