Benefits of Wearing Silk

HERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE REASONS WHY ALL OUR PRODUCTS ARE MADE OF 100% MULBERRY SILK

THERMOREGULATING

Silk is known for its natural temperature regulating properties which help to maintain body temperature throughout the night. Silk is also known to be; a breathable fabric which can absorb 10% to 30% of its weight in moisture, lightweight and a thin fabric that helps to keep the body cool in summer and warm in winter months. This occurs due to the air which is captured between the Mulberry silk threads creating an isolation effect. Being naturally breathable, proteins in silk absorb sweat therefore, making it more hygienic than any other material.

As a result, Lé Silk sleepwear and sleep accessories are designed to embrace higher quality and more comfortable sleeping experience.

Hypoallergenic

Silk is a naturally hypoallergenic fabric as it is a natural fibre produced by silkworms that is mostly composed of two proteins; sericin and fibroin. Sericin is naturally anti-infectious, so it can keep away dust mites, bacteria, mold, and other common allergens. Silk is also free of any potential irritating chemicals and toxicants which makes it perfect, even for people with sensitive and allergy-prone skin.

SUSTAINABLE, ECO-FRIENDLY AND NATURAL FIBRE

Mulberry silk is the most luxurious and 100% natural textile material obtained from the cocoons of silkworms. The Cocoons are softened in the water and filaments are unwound and woven together to create silk threads. Silk is durable, resistant and a timeless fabric which resists deformation, as well as maintaining its lustrous surface. Mulberry silk is biodegradable and compostable, and uses less water, chemicals, and energy than any other fibres.

At Lé Silk, all of our products are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, environmentally friendly and no chemicals are used, giving you the satisfaction that your Mulberry silk goods do not damage our planet in any way.

Anti-Aging

Silk contains natural proteins and 18 amino acids that helps to speed up the metabolism of skin cells, making them replenish at a faster rate, resulting in a healthier appearance of the skin. The silky texture of the silk prevents the formation of "sleep wrinkles” and fine lines, which result from constant friction with your pillowcase, sleep mask or sleepwear. Silk fibres are substantially less absorbent than cotton fibres, which means that silk absorbs less moisture from your skin overnight, keeping it moistened as you sleep.

Enhanced Sleep Quality

We all know how soft and smooth silk is, which makes it very comfortable and easy to relax when sleeping in silk pyjamas or on silk pillowcases. Thanks to silk’s temperature regulating properties, it is always at the right temperature and you won’t get overheated when sleeping on silk. This will increase the overall quality of your sleep. Sleeping in silk overnight will guarantee the ultimate luxurious sleeping experience and you will never want to get out of your comfortable bed!
